800 Years of History
From a grain mill to a guesthouse –
a family tradition since 1204
The Poschmühle mill can look back on a tradition spanning more than 800 years. It was first mentioned in a document in 1204 in the land register of the Baumburg Monastery. Throughout the centuries, the mill stream, with its clear mountain water, has been—and remains—the lifeblood of the estate. For over half a millennium, until 1963, the water powered a grain mill and a sawmill; today, it feeds a small, family-owned hydroelectric power plant. Then as now, the name Poschmühle stands for a tradition of community and warm hospitality that has been passed down through generations.

The Poschmühle is therefore not only a retreat for leisure cyclists and hiking enthusiasts, but also an ideal base for training groups and individual athletes who want to take advantage of the varied landscape around Traunreut for their training. From flat endurance rides along the lakes to challenging climbs in the Chiemgau Alps—we know the routes from personal experience and are happy to help you organize your training camp.

LOCATION
When you stay with us, you’ll be just over 1 km from the town of Traunreut, surrounded by nature.
A quiet location with no through traffic. Our property is an oasis of rest and relaxation, harmoniously nestled in the unspoiled natural landscape of the Traunauen, at the intersection of several idyllic hiking and biking trails.
It’s about a 10-minute drive to Lake Chiemsee, with Fraueninsel and the royal castle on Herreninsel; about 45 minutes to Salzburg; and about an hour’s drive to the Oktoberfest in Munich.
Frequently Asked Questions.
Check-in is from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Early check-in is possible upon request, subject to availability. Check-in after 8:00 p.m. is possible via the key safe.
Pets are welcome here. The fee is €12 per pet per night. Please let us know in advance so we can take this into account when assigning rooms. Please do not bring pets into the breakfast room.
Cancellations are free of charge up to and including 2 days before arrival; for cancellations made later than that, we charge 80% of the room rate, excluding breakfast. In the event of a no-show without prior notice, we charge 100% of the room rate, including breakfast.
You can store your own bicycles and e-bikes in our lockable bike garage. E-bikes can also be charged there. We offer a limited number of city bikes for free rental. Advance reservations for bicycles are not available.
All rooms are equipped with down-free bedding. Rooms without carpeting and pet-free rooms for guests with allergies are available upon request.
Gluten-free and lactose-free meals are available; please let us know in advance
Breakfast buffet is served on weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and on weekends from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Dinner for Hotel Guests
Every day from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., we offer our hotel guests a small menu featuring 7 homemade dishes.
By train: “Hörpolding” station, 7-minute walk.
By bus: “St. Georgen” bus stop, 10-minute walk.
Green electricity from hydropower, €0.45/kWh, available at the front desk
There is also a wide selection available for vegans at breakfast and dinner.
